Role Purpose:

We are seeking a Medical Scientist or Medical Technologist to join our Genetics Laboratory team. This role is ideal for a meticulous and motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic, fastpaced environment and is passionate about advancing science and healthcare

Minimum Requirements

• BSc (Hons) with HPCSA registration as a Medical Scientist in Genetics or Molecular Biology; OR
• BTech / Medical Laboratory Scientist with HPCSA registration in Cytogenetics or Molecular Biology
• Minimum 2 years’ post-internship experience in a clinical/diagnostic laboratory
• Proficient in molecular techniques (nucleic acid extraction, quantification, PCR, NGS library prep & analysis)
• Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Office & online platforms)
• Exceptional attention to detail, time management and organisational skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform sample processing using next generation sequencing (NGS) and qPCR technologies
• Receive, label, process and store specimens
• Analyse and interpret results for clinical reporting
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting in line with SOPs and regulatory guidelines
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment
• Ensure compliance with ISO15189, GLP, and health & safety regulations
• Support quality control processes and report non-conformities
• Provide training and supervision when required
